Transforming waterways through innovative design and assessment.
At Headwaters Hydro, we are dedicated to restoring and enhancing aquatic ecosystems through innovative engineering solutions. Our mission is to provide sustainable practices that promote river health and biodiversity.
With a background in fluvial geomorphology, stream ecology and watershed hydrology projects related to river processes, coastal stabilization techniques and erosion and sediment control our specialties include:
Streambank Stabilization and Sediment Control
We have implemented stabilization projects on tributaries of the lakes region in Maine to the headwaters in the Tetons and the big watershed rivers in Canada. We can assist in working from the planning to survey and data gathering to data analysis and reporting to design and implementation oversight. We are trained in Rosgen survey and assessment to monitoring and design.
We have many miles of stream crossings scour assessment performed through out North America. We authored the Erosion Risk Screening Tool to identify high risk areas potentially suspect to scour erosion events for pipelines. This process is being used industry wide by Risk Assessment managers in big energy.
We have worked on several case studies in the Casco Bay coastline assessing coastline erosion and bluff failures. Work includes co-authoring a "state of the science" report for the case studies and created an instability assessment tool that can be used for ranking bank erosion risk.
We have worked with many private and municipal entities to assess watershed issues created by stormwater runoff. Sediment transport issues plague our stream and is degrading the habitat within them. We focus on the source of the sediment through quantitative analysis and help lead you to solutions.
We have experience and base camps in both Portland, ME and Victor, ID. Projects vary in type and scale but all focus on the morphology and interaction between soils and water. We passionate to offer a multidiscipline approach in the ecological sciences and engineered solutions.
Troy is a civil and environmental engineering graduate from Clarkson University and has a masters of environmental science and management form Idaho State University. His projects vary in scale but include watershed assessment, geomorphic assessment and analysis, stream and coastal stabilization and stormwater management. The type of projects vary but all utilize a science based approach resulting in a natural systems approach.
Troy uses his civil/environmental engineering background as a project manager focused on watershed and fluvial geomorphological assessments, stream and riparian restoration, and natural channel design (NCD). He has managed projects involving multiple disciplines and several federal and state agencies. Troy frequently serves as the primary client contact and contractor contact.
Troy is a licensed professional engineer in AZ, ID, NM, NV, SD, UT, In Canada he is licensed in the provinces of Ontario, and British Columbia .
